Lock 43, Hatton, Grand Union Canal

Please be advised due to a delay with equipment arriving, this stoppage will now take place on Monday 29th April & Tuesday 30th April.

We’re having to carry out urgent repairs at Lock 43, Hatton, to repair the heel post on the top end offside gate. There is currently a very short-term fix in place, with a rachet strap being used to hold the gate together. While this hasn’t snapped yet, we’re unsure how long this short-term fix will last, and an urgent repair is therefore required to avoid an emergency closure of the canal.

A 2-day stoppage to complete the repair will take place on Wednesday 24th April & Thursday 25th April. The team will need to install stop planks and replace the heel post with a metal cap. If we’re able to open navigation any earlier, we’ll update this notice.
