Between Deepdale Bridge 17 and Lowes Bridge 15 - Trent & Mersey Canal

Contractors have attended Barrow Bridge 16 today and made the site safe for boat passage. 

As of 8am tomorrow, we will be lifting the restriction between Deepdale Bridge 17 and Lowes Bridge 15, which will allow boaters to proceed as normal. 

However, further remedial work will be required and may necessitate a future short term closure or restriction to navigation at Barrow Bridge 16.  We will update our website as soon as we have dates for when this work is planned in.

The Highways agency, continue to close off the road access to Barrow Bridge 16 and the towpath also remains closed.   

We will update this notice by the 17th May or as soon as we have further information. 

The Trent & Mersey Canal, between Deepdale Bridge 17 and Lowes Bridge 15, remains closed following a serious vehicle strike which has badly damaged Barrow Bridge 16.  

The last waterpoint before Swarkestone is at Weston Lock and there is a winding place a short distance upstream from the lock.

The last waterpoint above Stenson Lock is at Willington. There is also a winding place at Willington Customer Service Facilities.
